I have been quite for some weeks, this is partly because of vacation on the construction team in the May 1st week and because I have had noumerous guest in the house.
However the demand from the constructor to make desicions on the floor tile style is getting higher, and I have to make a decision soon.
I have been looking at different styles and I have found some that I like.
I have also been looking at different colors and I have found some that I like.
I have also been looking at different patterns and I have found some that I like.
Having lived here for more than a year now, I have a pretty good idea of what the cement coloured tile, the beige tile and the large light grey tile look like and "behaves" in the house and on the terrasses.
This means I am absolutely sure that the tiles of the first floor and the courtyard should have a darker nuance and I have been settled on terracotte for some time now.
I just find it classy and it gives a cozy warmth to the house and yard.
The terracotte tile will also be more forgiving to dirt and stains than the light grey tile, which is a good thing in a house with an expected traffic load, including children and animals.
One more observation that I was granted by an architect friend is that have the same tile and style of floor inside on outside on the ground floor is a good idea, it gives a nice flow and connection between the inside and outside and makes it feel more spacious and planned..
And so I created some AI images based on two actuals that I gave the engine (in this case ChatGPT)...
- I photographed a lot of terracotta style tiles from the acutal retailer (so stuff I know I can get relatively easy)
- I chose the threshold between the kitchen and courtyard to apply the tile styles to (because it will be the main path way between in and out on the groundfloor)
I then took the outcome and put it on my Instagram account, (@reneloehde) and asked for feedback on the different styles. For reference i am adding the 3 images to this post.
I have to say that the feedback I got was quite positive, and I am leaning towards the herringbone pattern, but I am still not sure (I don't think I will be sure until I see it on the ground :-)).
This is the outcome the survey after 3 days:
- 1. Herringbone pattern terracotta: 53%
- 2. Classic terracotta: 13%
- 3. Large terracotta: 34%
